Frequently Asked Questions

I don’t have any experience. Can I still take the course?
Yes, we believe anyone can learn user experience design and start a career. You are required to have a laptop (PC or Mac) and internet access. You also need basic computer skills, such as using a word processor, basic diagramming software, and navigating websites.
How many hours of work should I anticipate in a week?
You should expect to spend about 15-20 hours a week. Most students finish the program in three to five months. If you spend less time, it’ll take longer to finish the course.
How many projects will I have?
We introduce you three projects that you can expand on. Please see Class Projects for more information.
Do I have to buy any software?
Yes, you'll need to purchase software of your choice. Most of the recommended industry standard tools have a 15 to 30-day trial or a free account with some limitations. We recommend trying them out first through a trial period. More guidance on software will be provided when you sign up.
What’s the difference between Self-study plan and Mentorship plan?
The Mentorship plan provides one-on-one mentorship to get personalized feedback on your work. It’s the perfect option for those who want to start a career in UX design and need weekly guidance from a senior designer. If you meet the course complete requirements at the time of graduation, you are also qualified to receive a Certificate of Completion and Career Support. The Self-Study option is perfect for people who want to learn UX design by studying on their own. Students who choose this option can add UX design as an additional skill by working through projects. Product managers and engineers can choose this option to expand their skills sets and gain hands-on design experiences. The Self-study option provides access to all the content and our Slack community but it doesn’t include mentorship, certificate, and career support.
What happens once I sign up?
You’ll get a welcome email with the information on how to access the virtual classroom and our Slack team. If you sign up for Mentorship plan, you will need to fill out the survey to let us know your background and availability for weekly meetings. Once you take the survey, we’ll match you with a mentor and ask you to confirm a weekly meeting schedule. You shall have your first meeting in the following week.
What are the course complete requirements?
If you sign up for Mentorship plan, you are required to showcase the following items at the time of graduation in order to earn a Certificate of Completion and get Career Support: 1) Portfolio website containing three case studies, 2) Resume, ready to be sent out for entry-level UX jobs, and 3) LinkedIn profile updated and optimized as a UX designer.
Do I get access to the content even after I graduate?
Yes, you'll have lifetime access to the content, including all future updates.
What if I have to cancel?
For Mentorship plan, you can cancel your subscription anytime via your account page. Your subscription will continue until the end of your subscription period, at which time your plan will not renew. We do not offer a prorated refund for this course.
What if I enroll in Self-study option but decide I want to take Mentorship plan instead?
You can upgrade by signing up for the Mentorship plan. One you do, we’ll give you a full refund for the Self-study enrollment fee. Email [email protected] for any assistance.
What does Career Support include?
Our career support provides on-demand career guidance via email and other means of communication for 6 months or until the first paid gig, whichever comes first. We do not place students directly at companies.
